Damiani Coffee Roasters was founded by Luke and Rich Damiani in 2011. We have been active in bringing specialty coffee to North East Pennsylvania since 2002, when we opened Northern Light Espresso Bar in Scranton. We dreamed of roasting our own coffee for years and we are now able to continue bringing exciting coffee to Scranton and the world.
We currently work with a variety of importers to find amazing coffee from around the world to bring to you. We primarily buy microlots of single origin coffee, which we can trace back to a single farm or family in the country of origin. We pay well above the market average for the coffee we find which encourages consistent quality from the growers as well as provides a living wage capable of supporting family and community.
One small way we can give back until we are able to get further involved on the ground at origin is to support 2 charities using a portion of our proceeds:
Coffee Kids: Coffee Kids works with organizations in coffee-farming communities throughout Latin America to create projects in the areas of education, health care, economic diversification, food security and capacity building.
A21: We prevent trafficking through awareness and education. In schools, orphanages, and universities, we have created presentations and curriculum to educate potential victims of trafficking. Young people are equipped with strategies to avoid becoming a victim. We also believe prevention occurs by educating those not necessarily as victims, but as suppliers in the human slave trade. Whether it’s through our street teams or university awareness, churches or community groups, our prevention presentations in nine different countries aim to prevent trafficking through awareness before it begins.
Our goal is to find and promote coffees that we find to be exceptional and to offer them in a way that highlights the natural flavor notes found within the coffee rather than obscuring it. We will never stop learning and we hope you join us for the ride. Shop our collection today!
